‘Taxi’ is the brand new banger from Stoke-On-Trent's Average Joe. The track is an eclectic mixture of jazz, soul and an Arctic Monkeys-esque appreciation for the use of a gritty northern accent as a centrepiece. Relatability and everyday life is a focus of Average Joe, who aims to filter working-class messages of hard work and heartbreak through hip-hop, folk and R&B filters. This track is amongst their best work, with a funky beat supporting falsetto vocals, brass countermelodies and a charmingly catchy lead vocal. The background of the track comes from a background built on Average Joe’s exposure to his mum’s “folk lullabies” and his dad’s “working-class attitude, yet aristocratic high standards”.
